Earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma where she represented the College of Mathematics and Science and was selected as the Outstanding Graduating Senior by a panel composed of faculty from all of the university’s colleges. She began her career in education as an elementary tutor, working within the private school setting to provide individualized instruction to students during the school day. For the last ten years, she has taught as an upper-elementary classroom teacher and middle school language arts instructor.
Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. Smittle has served on curriculum development, peer mentoring, and accreditation teams. She has also led summer workshops in ACT prep, creative writing, and Shurley English. Her continuing education includes participation in the University of Oklahoma’s Visions of America teacher’s institute, theology courses from The Bible Institute, and attendance at ACCS conferences.
Mrs. Smittle and her husband, Bryan, are members of Wildwood Community Church. The Smittles have a daughter, Taylor, who attends the University of Oklahoma, and a son, Josh, who is a high school senior.
