VFS is committed to a Christ-centered environment that provides children a rich and solid foundation in important educational concepts while nurturing their spiritual, social, and emotional development. We believe that young children learn best through play-based, active learning environments. The classroom is prepared by the teacher to encourage independence and a sense of order. Instruction includes individual, small, and whole groups ensuring that each child’s unique needs are met. Providing this type of environment allows children the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of learning that goes beyond classroom expectations and experiences.
CURRICULUM
Bible
Bible truths are incorporated throughout all content areas. The children will participate in chapel each week, engage in student-led prayer, practice and memorize Bible scripture.
Language Arts
For children to be Kindergarten ready, they need to learn age-appropriate language, literacy, and writing skills.
Social Studies
In our early childhood classrooms, social studies focuses on the family, home, community and community helpers, seasons, emotions, and an understanding of the world around them.
Music
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Our children will learn to praise and worship God through music.
Physical Education
We believe that children need to have ample opportunities throughout the day to move, stretch, run, jump, and play.
Library
Every other week our traveling library comes to visit. This gives each child the opportunity to browse through and take home books and read them independently. Each classroom includes a cozy reading area to enjoy their read.
Science
Throughout the year, our children will learn of plants, animals, the weather, our bodies, and our health.
Math
It is critical that children learn that math is fun! Children are introduced to several math concepts including, numbers and operations.
Art
We believe that each child is unique and their art should be an extension of their uniqueness.
